Huge Rainstorm About To Soak Herndon

HERNDON, VA -- April showers bring May flowers, as they say, and we're about to get hit with a big rainstorm Tuesday and rolling into Wednesday in Herndon.

The Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang predicts that rain will start mid-morning, and we should about a quarter to a half an inch -- although locally heavier amounts are possible west and south of D.C.

That rain will continue falling into the night, and we'll get an addition quarter to half inch, so we should be good and soaked by the time Wednesday morning rolls around and the rain tapers off to showers. (If you're wondering exactly how much rainfall is an inch, it is roughly equivalent to 10 inches of snow.)

Those showers should fade completely by the afternoon and the sun may even reappear.

Temperature-wise, it will be cool but not cold, hovering in the 50s for most of the day and getting into the 60s once the sun reappears.

Thursday should be a nice day, with highs approaching 70 degrees and sunny blue skies. However, showers could be back in the mix by Friday night.
