Huge Storm Slams Herndon: Incredible Photos, Video
Herndon got hammered by a fierce summer storm on Friday, including powerful wind gusts and torrential rain.

HERNDON, VA -- A ferocious thunderstorm swept through Herndon and the D.C. area on Friday, and it resulted in some incredible photos and videos of Mother Nature at her worst (at least as far as this part of the world goes).
It was quite a strong storm, with wind gusts of up to 60 miles per hour (for comparison, a tropical storm must have winds of 74 miles per hour to be declared a hurricane). Despite blowing through very quickly, some areas got an inch or more of rain.
And social media blew up with some eye-popping pictures and video of the awe-inspiring summer storm. We've included a few of the very best below:
