ICYMI: Herndon Restaurant Violations: 5 Restaurants, 23 Violations In One Week

Fairfax County reported violations at Chopsticks, Mikaku, and others according to inspections from June 22-29.

HERNDON, VA — Fairfax County regularly conducts inspections of Herndon restaurants. Reports are generally posted about a week after the inspection. We've listed the violations from inspections at Herndon restaurants -- 23 of them at just five restaurants in the past week -- between June 22-29, the most recent dates available.

Non-critical violation: Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Dispensing and/or in-use utensils improperly stored between use as follows: OBSERVED TONGS HANGING FROM HANDLE OF STOVE.

Critical violation: Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): When tested, the low temperature, chemical sanitizing warewashing machine was observed with a sanitizing rinse concentration of less than 50 ppm chlorine solution.

Critical violation: Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The following equipment/utensils were observed soiled to sight and touch: ROBOT COUPE GRINDER, HOBART GRINDER IN AXILLARY KITCHEN.

Critical violation: Observation (REPEAT) (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Pesticides labeled for residential use were observed in the facility and are being applied by the operator to control pests.

Non-critical violation: Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Observed that sign or poster that notifies food employees to wash their hands is not provided at all handwashing sinks used by food employees. OBSERVED NO HANDWASHING SIGN IN AXILLARY KITCHEN.
