ICYMI: Man Attacks Sports Bar's Employees, Patrons with Huge Chain in Herndon: Police

Police accuse 33-year-old Quan Anh Ly of Herndon of swinging a chain at people at Glory Day's Grill and then burglarizing a nearby home.

HERNDON, VA — A Herndon man has been arrested after police say he attacked employees and patrons of a local business with a large chain early Friday morning, and then broke into a nearby house.

Police were called to the the Glory Days Grill in the 2500 block of John Milton Drive at around 12:37 a.m. Friday after receiving a report that a man had approached and threatened patrons and employees on the front patio, according to a report from the Fairfax County Police Department.

"The suspect was swinging a large chain forcing the employees to retreat into the building and lock the doors," the report states. "The suspect broke the front doors to the business with his chain, entered, and continued to swing his chain at employees. He confronted the bartender who was on the phone with police and grabbed the phone from him and then proceeded to break numerous glasses and bottles."

The man then walked to the back of the restaurant and struck a 58-year-old employee, injuring his hand, police say.

The man exited out of the back of the residence, and a short time later, officers were called to a nearby house located in the 2500 block of Freetown Drive for a report of a burglary of an occupied dwelling.

"The homeowner awoke to the sound of glass breaking," the report states. "A man had broken both windows alongside of the front door and was attempting to enter. He fled the scene when the homeowner yelled at him. The suspect was later found lying under a nearby car."

Police arrested 33-year-old Quan Anh Ly of Herndon on charges of malicious wounding, attempted malicious wounding, burglary, and felony destruction of property. More charges may be forthcoming.
