In Herndon Many Incumbents Hold Onto Their Seats
Unofficial election results are in with the majority of precincts reporting
Though some numbers are still being tallied, after the Tuesday, Nov. 8 election, it seems many Herndon-area incumbents will be holding onto their political roles.
Mark Herring (D) won over Patricia Phillips (R) in the 33rd senate district, while Janet Howell (D) kept her position representing the 32nd district over challenger Patrick Forrest (R). Delegates Tom Rust (R-86) and Ken Plum (D-36) both held onto their seats as well.
At the Fairfax County level, Sharon Bulova (D) took nearly 60 percent of the vote for chairman of the county's Board of Supervisors, while Spike Williams received 35 percent, Christopher DeCarlo took 3.4 percent, and Will Raddle Jr. received 1.5 percent of the vote.

John Foust (D) will continue on as the Dranesville district representative on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. Foust took 60 percent of the vote to challenger Dennis Husch's (R) 39 percent.
Janie Strauss also retained her position and will stay on as the Dranesville district representative on the Fairfax County School Board. The Dranesville district school board race was closer than many other local races, with Strauss collecting 51 percent of the votes to challenger Louise Epstein's 48 percent.
