Kicking off the Holidays with Nutcracker Cheer!

Classical Ballet Theatre's Nutcracker is a "must see" in the Washington Metropolitan Area.

Classical Ballet Theatre (CBT) kicks off the 2015 holiday season with its annual production of The Nutcracker on Saturday, November 28th and Sunday, November 29th. Some of the most highly trained classical ballet dancers in the Washington Metropolitan Area, the CBT students are thrilled to perform with guest professional dancers Ruslan Amrayev, Kathy Beyer, Philip Smith-Cobbs, and Norbert Nirewicz.

“It’s so wonderful to learn from these amazing examples and see the results of all of our hard work,” volunteered one of the young performers. “I especially love being a part of something bigger.”

And big the CBT productions are. Held at the 525-seat Ernst Theater at NVCC’s Annandale campus, The Nutcracker involves nearly 100 cast members, and, with very few exceptions, students perform the full range of roles, including the challenging Sugar Plum Fairy. The professional quality of each performance includes beautiful choreography, stunning handmade costumes, and, often, some good-natured humor.

The only thing not at the professional level is the price of admission. Founded over 25 years ago, CBT is a not-for-profit organization that offers the community its annual Nutcracker at a fraction of the cost of that asked by professional companies. Additionally, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and military families receive special discounts, and groups may reserve free “behind the scenes” tours. With such high quality and low cost, CBT’s Nutcracker is a great way to introduce the performing arts to young children – and to begin a wonderful holiday tradition.
