Left I-66 Exit on I-495 North to Close This Weekend

This weekend Exit 49C, the left exit that takes drivers from I-495 north (inner loop) to I-66 west, will be permanently closing. 

Drivers will be directed to take the existing right exist ramp, Exit 49A, to get to I-66 west. The right exit ramp has been widened to two lanes to accomodate the increase in traffic. 

When approaching the I-66 interchange drivers will need to be in the right lane to merge onto the exhit ramp for Exit 49A. The ramp has been relocated and comes before the I-66 overpass now.

The Virginia Department of Transportation closed the left exhit ramp to allow the process to begin on creating the new High Occupancy Toll lanes access ramp that will be built in place of the existing left exit for I-66 west. 

Drivers should be cautious while going through the area since a new traffic pattern will be in place.
