Local Ashburn Native First To Cross Finish Line, Wins $2,500 at Monument 10K

Congrats to Ashburn-native Jackie Woods, this year’s AT&T Dash for the Cash winner at the Ukrops Monument 10K in Richmond.

Twenty-six-year-old Ashburn-native Jackie Woods won $2,500 from AT&T for being the first to cross the finish line this past weekend. She received a 2.4 mile headstart to help her, based on her predicted time and results from her past four performances.

Woods is a doctoral graduate student at VCU, pursing a Ph.D. in counseling psychology. Woods says being selected as the AT&T Dash for the Cash participant is “extra special” because her dissertation topic is childhood obesity. She’ll use her winnings to purchase a new laptop for “a little bit of work and a little bit of fun” and to sign up for the Richmond Marathon in November.
