Local Student is Living Even Prouder After Winning a First-of-its-Kind Scholarship
Sterling Teen Wins AT&T's First-Ever "Live Proud on Campus" Scholarship

Tough topics don’t scare Ryan Wells, in fact he’s more than happy to take them head on.
The Sterling teen wants to start an organization on his school’s campus, Elon University in North Carolina, to address issues facing LGBT students today.
It’s because of this commitment to make life better for others that Ryan won AT&T's first-ever ‘Live Proud on Campus’ scholarship.

AT&T and the Human Rights Campaign asked students across the country to put together a video explaining a program they want to create that would help their peers.
Ryan’s idea of addressing issues ranging from substance abuse to controlling the transmission of sexually transmitted infections grabbed him one of three scholarships.

And he’s not stopping on campus. He wants to extend the program into the immediate areas around the school.
The prize includes a 10,000 dollar scholarship, 2,500 dollars toward creating his campus program and a trip to Washington, D.C.
