Major Closures Will Hit Herndon, Reston Commuters on Dulles Toll Road Soon

Up until now the closures had only affected the Dulles Access Highway, but that will change next week.

HERNDON, VA — Significant construction work on the Metro Silver Line extension through Reston, Herndon and beyond is resulting in lane closures on the Dulles Access Highway, but it's also going to impact the Dulles Toll Road as well very soon.

Commuters in Herndon and Reston will have to contend with a left lane closure on the westbound Dulles Toll Road beginning at 7 p.m. on Monday next week near mile marker 3.4 near the Monroe Street overpass in Herndon. That will turn into a double left lane closure at 10 p.m.

All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m., but the closures will take place every night from Monday, March 27 through Friday, March 31.

"Police will be present along the DIAAH and DTR for safety," according to a statement from the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project. "Drivers should exercise caution, pay attention to barrier and signage and obey all police and flagger instructions."

Throughout this week and next week, there will be intermittent closures of the Dulles Access Highway, including full shutdowns of the highway for 20 minutes at a time on some nights. For more information, visit DullesMetro.com.
