Sexual assault on a child charge filed against Herndon man: Police

HERNDON, VA — Herndon Police charged two men in connection with several assaults that occurred in town, according to the weekly crime report.

Police charged Jonathan Danilo Santos Abrego, 34, of Herndon with two counts of sodomy of a child under 13. Santos Abrego and the victim knew each other, according to police. Santos Abrego is being held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

In the second case, HPD arrested Richard Lee Paige, 58, of Ashburn, on Sept. 6, in connection with an assault that occurred in the 1000 block of Charlton Place. The victim was treated at a nearby hospital and then was released.

After charging Paige with aggravated assault, police took him to the county's adult detention center, where he is being held without bond.

Between Sept. 6-12, Town of Herndon police officers issued 138 traffic summonses, including two for driving while intoxicated, 12 for driving with no operator's license, and 30 for operating a vehicle while holding a phone.

There were 11 reportable traffic accidents in Herndon. Virginia State Police define "reportable crashes" as those that result in $1,500 in property damage and/or injury.
