Man Shot in the Leg in Herndon After Getting in an Argument: Police

Police say the man tried to flee the scene but was struck in the leg when one of the two suspects pulled a gun.

HERNDON, VA — A man was shot in the leg near Herndon High School after getting into an argument with two other men, police say.

The 21-year-old man was treated and released at a local hospital. He had met with the two suspects, described only as black males, in the 700 block of Bennett Street on Jan. 18, according to a report from the Herndon Police Department.

The men got into an argument, prompting the victim to flee to a residence on Royal Elm Court. However, one of the suspects pulled out a gun and fired at the victim as he was running away, striking him in the leg, the report states.

"The suspects then immediately left the area in a dark colored sedan," the report adds. "This incident occurred across the street from Herndon High School. There is no information linking this incident to the school."

The investigation is ongoing and police ask anyone with information to call 703-435-6846.
