Stranger Accosted Girl Near School, Say Police

Herndon Middle School is notifying parents about incident: Herndon Police Department.

Herndon police are looking for a man who accosted a juvenile girl Wednesday afternoon on a street near Herndon Middle School.

The administration at the school, at 901 Locust St., is notifying the parents of students about this incident, the police said.

The incident occurred at about 3:50 p.m. Wednesday, according to a police statement. The juvenile told police that she was walking alone in the 800 block of Locust Street and the 600 block of Center Street when an unknown man in a car asked her, on three different occasions, if she would like a ride home.

The man was driving a mid-2000s, silver mid-sized four-door sedan, police said.

The third time, the man parked his car, walked up to the juvenile, tapped her on the shoulder and asked her if she would like a ride home. The juvenile told him “no” each time, police said. The man returned to his car and left the area in an unknown direction.

The unknown man is described by police as a black male, 35 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 210 to 220 pounds, and bald with no facial hair. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a white T-shirt.
