Police: Body Found in Woods North of Herndon

Fairfax County officers at scene; medical examiner to investigate cause of death.

Law enforcement authorities are investigating the scene in a Herndon-area park where a body was found Monday afternoon, according to Fairfax County police.

WRC-TV Channel 4 reported that Fairfax County police received a call about a body near Folly Lick Stream in the 1500 block of Hiddenbrook Drive, just north and west of the town’s borders. They arrived shortly before 12:30 p.m. and found the body in the wooded area.

Fairfax County police said the body is that of an adult male, and termed the death “suspicious.” Detectives believe the deceased suffered “trauma to the upper body,” according to a police statement.

Positive identification of the body has not yet been made, police said, and the Office of the Medical Examiner will determine cause and manner of death. The investigation is in its early stages, and residents should expect a police presence in the area for the next few hours.
