Meet Herndon Mayor, Town Council Candidates At Chamber-Hosted Forum

Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce is hosting a candidates forum Thursday night at the Herndon Fortnightly Library.

HERNDON, VA — Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Herndon Candidates Forum Thursday at 7 p.m., in the Herndon Fortnightly Library at 68 Center St.

This will be a chance for town residents to meet candidates on the Nov. 8 ballot in the following races:

Mayor

Town Council

Any registered voter can vote in the November 2022 election, as Virginia does not register voters by party. In-person early voting in Fairfax County will begin Friday and continue through Saturday, Nov. 5. Election Day voting will happen from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 8.

Key Dates To Know For Nov. 8 Election

  • Sept. 23: Early voting began at three locations — Fairfax County Government Center, Mount Vernon Governmental Center and North County Governmental Center. Scroll down to see early voting hours and locations.
  • Oct. 17: Deadline for voter registration or updating an existing voter registration (such as address change). Visit vote.elections.virginia.gov to register or update your registration.
  • Oct. 27: Another 13 early voting sites open. Scroll down to see early voting hours and locations.
  • Oct. 28: Deadline to apply for a mail-in ballot. The quickest way to apply for a mail-in ballot is online at vote.elections.virginia.gov.
  • Nov. 5: Last day for in-person early voting.
  • Nov. 8: Polls open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. For voters returning a mail-in ballot, they must be returned to the Office of Elections by 7 p.m. on Nov. 8 and received by noon on Nov. 14.

Early Voting Hours and Locations

Early voting is available in person and does not require an application in advance. An acceptable form of identification is required for in-person voting in Virginia.

Fairfax County Government Center

  • 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays through Nov. 4
  • Saturday, Oct. 29: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Sunday, Oct. 30: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Saturday, Nov. 5: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Mount Vernon Governmental Center

  • 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays through Nov. 4
  • Saturday, Oct. 29: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Sunday, Oct. 30: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Saturday, Nov. 5: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

North County Governmental Center

  • 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays through Nov. 4
  • Saturday, Oct. 29: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Sunday, Oct. 30: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Saturday, Nov. 5: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Mail-in Ballots

Virginia voters do not need an excuse to request a mail-in ballot. Mail-in ballots may be requested by visiting vote.elections.virginia.gov, downloading an application on the Office of Elections website or picking up a paper application at any Fairfax County governmental center or library branch.

Applications to request a mail-in ballot are due by Oct. 28. Completed ballots must be returned to the Office of Elections by 7 p.m. on Nov. 8 or postmarked by Nov. 8 and received by noon on Nov. 14.

Ballots can be returned by mail or ballot drop boxes. A ballot drop box is available until 7 p.m. Nov. 8 front of the Fairfax County Government Center 24/7 under video surveillance. Ballot drop boxes will also be provided during voting hours at early voting sites and at all polling places from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Nov. 8.

Voting on Election Day

If you're voting on Election Day, polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Nov. 8. An acceptable form of identification is required to vote in person at your polling place.

Confirm your polling place by visiting vote.elections.virginia.gov.

Maps of precincts in Fairfax County are available from the Office of Elections.
