National Farmers Market Week Observed At Herndon Farmers Market

HERNDON, VA — During farmers market season, various farmers and local producers bring their food and other homemade products to communities within Fairfax County. National Farmers Market Week will be celebrated at the Herndon Farmers Market and other Fairfax County farmers markets from Aug. 6 to 12.

The Herndon Farmers Market on Thursday, Aug. 10, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., will feature activities, including corn hole, bubbles, live music, trivia and more. The Fairfax County Park Authority will also give away free farmers market canvas bags and washable produce bags while supplies last. The farmers market is located at 765 Lynn St. in Herndon.

National Farmers Market Week is led by the Farmers Market Coalition to celebrate local farmers and producers that support communities and the local economy. The Fairfax County Park Authority runs 10 farmers markets, including the Herndon Farmers Market. Participating farmers and producers are located within a 125-mile radius, except for those who provide hard-to-find products.

The Herndon Farmers Market is open Thursdays through Nov. 8 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The park authority reminds customers that food waste composting is available at its farmers markets.
