Naturefest to Provide Hands-On Nature Experiences

WHAT: NatureFest 2014 is a hands-on nature event, which spotlights the animals, plants, and insects that live in Runnymede Park. Event participants can visit fifteen different nature stations, which include live raptors, animals that live in the park, how to tag and release a monarch butterfly, learn what it means to be “busy as a bee” and all about life in the meadow. Blue Ridge Wildlife Center and the Wildlife Center of Virginia will conduct two educational shows.

WHERE: NatureFest 2014 will be held at Runnymede Park, 195 Herndon Parkway between Elden Street

and Queens Row Street. There will be parking along Herndon Parkway in front of the park entrance and at the Herndon Police Station, 397 Herndon Parkway. A free shuttle will be provided all afternoon from the Herndon Police station, which is a third of a mile south of the park entrance. Limited handicap parking will be available at the event.

NatureFest is sponsored jointly by the Town of Herndon Parks and Recreation Department and the Friends of Runnymede Park.
