Now Open in Herndon: Thali Express Indian Restaurant

Thali Express opened its doors at 332 Elden St. last week hoping to fill a need for nearby office workers and residents - fast, fresh Indian food.

The counter-service restaurant is the vision of Ashok Bhardwaj, who has been a chef at nearby Angeethi Authentic Indian Cuisine for many years.

Thali Express features an Indian Bento box-style experience. Order a main dish platter such as a vegetarian thali or a chicken thali, and you also get sides such as dal, spinach paneer, bread, rice, raita & salad for about $6.95 (prices depend on main dish and number of side dishes).

Thali also offers Indian snacks (such as spinach paktoa, samosas and fruit chaat) and desserts (among them: gulab jamun, carrot halwa and fruit custard). The store will feature a sweets counter within a few weeks.
