NVAEYC Appoints New Executive Director
Dr. Alyson Williams brings years of experience to her new leadership position supporting early childhood education in Northern Virginia.

CITY OF ALEXANDRIA, ARLINGTON COUNTY, FAIRFAX COUNTY, LOUDOUN COUNTY – The Northern Virginia Association for the Education of Young Children (NVAEYC) is pleased to announce that it has named Alyson Williams, Ed.D. as its first Executive Director. Dr. Williams assumed her duties on March 1, 2017.
Dr. Williams is an early childhood professional with over 15 years of experience in the field as a teacher, administrator, researcher, and teacher educator. She has also held leadership positions in the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and its local affiliate, the Richmond Early Childhood Association.
“This is an exciting time for early childhood education. Alyson brings an impressive skill set and knowledge of the key issues in the early childhood community. In this new role, she will be responsible for guiding NVAEYC through exciting growth opportunities,” says Board Co-President, Fahemeh Pirzadeh.

NVAEYC is an affiliate of NAEYC. NVAEYC's members include over 750 early childhood teachers, administrators, family child care providers, parents, and other professionals who care about and work to promote the healthy development of all young children in the City of Alexandria, Arlington County, Fairfax County, and Loudoun County.
