Patton Oswalt Jokes About Cruising Through Herndon
The "Ratatouille" and "The Goldbergs" star hails from the area.
HERNDON, VA — Patton Oswalt has certainly hit the big time as a nationally recognized comedian, the voice of the popular ABC TV Show "The Goldbergs," and the star of multiple films, including his work as Remy in the beloved 2007 animated film "Ratatouille." But it's nice to see he still keeps in touch with his NoVa roots every now and then.
Oswalt joked about the experience of touring through Herndon in a recent tweet. Herndon is just a stone's throw from Sterling, where he grew up -- so perhaps he was visiting family.
"Driving through the Herndon, VA suburbs, listening to Sly Fox's 'Let's Go All The Way,'" he wrote in the Aug. 15 tweet. "Holy [expletive] am I white."

Although Oswalt was born in Portsmouth, Va., his military family moved around and eventually settled in Sterling. He graduated from Broad Run High School in Ashburn.
He's made the Northern Virginia area the butt of his jokes in his standup. In one of his specials, he joked that Sterling was a boring town that caused him to miss all the cool music happening in D.C. when he was a kid.

"It was a planned community, it was come home, go to sleep, get up, go to work, don't look at each other," he riffed. "There was no identity to it at all. We've got a 7 Eleven, we've got a gas station, there's a pizza joint, there -- shut the [expletive] up go to bed."
