HERNDON, VA — Detectives from the Major Crimes Bureau of the Fairfax County Police Department released a photo of a suspect wanted in connection with a series of assaults that have occurred recently in the in Reston and Fair Oaks Police Districts, according to a police release.

Detectives are examining similarities in the cases to see if the they are linked to each other. Police are asking the public to help identify a suspect or suspects in these cases. FCPD described the suspect as a light-skinned Black man in his late 20s, standing about 6-feet tall and weighing 180 pounds. The man should be considered armed and dangerous, police say. Members of the public are warned not to approach the suspect but instead to call 911 immediately.

In the first incident, a man grabbed a woman from behind, as she was standing in the hallway of a hotel in the 13400 block of Sunrise Valley Drive, around 7:30 a.m., on Nov. 27. Covering her mouth, the man pushed her against a wall and then assaulted her. The woman was able to yell for help and the men fled the scene. The woman suffered minor injuries.

In the second incident, around 8:52 p.m., on Dec. 3, a woman entered the common area in the 13500 block of Virginia Randolph Ave. in the Ashford Meadows Apartments complex, when a man approached her. The man implied that he had a gun and demanded the woman hand over her personal property. After the woman complied, the man fled the scene.

On the same day, around 11:45 p.m., a woman was walking near the intersection of Centreville Road and Woodland Park, when a man struck her with an object. Moving her away from the sidewalk, the man sexually assaulted her, stole some personal property, and then walked away from the area. The victim was taken to a hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The victims in these three attacks are receiving appropriate resources and assistance from FCPD's Major Crimes Bureau’s Victim Services Division.

Detectives ask anyone who recognizes the individual in the sketch or has information about these incidents to cal the Major Crimes Bureau at 703-246-7800, option 3. Anonymous tipsters that provide information leading to an arrest are eligible for cash rewards of $100 to $1,000.
