Police Searching for Robbery Suspects Who Held Up Herndon Business

Schools, day care center were locked down for about an hour Wednesday morning, say Herndon police.

Police from Herndon and Fairfax County are searching for three suspects wanted for an armed robbery Wednesday morning at a business in town.

No one was injured in the robbery, the Herndon police said, but schools in the area and a day care center were locked down for about an hour.

The police responded at about 8:45 a.m. to the report of the armed robbery in the 1100 block of Elden Street, on the south side of town near the Herndon Parkway, according to a statement from the Herndon police.

A preliminary investigation indicated that four males, possibly armed with weapons, entered the business and committed the robbery. One suspect was detained near the scene, and the other three suspects fled in various directions on foot, the police said.

Fairfax County police officers, along with a helicopter and a K-9 unit (an officer with a trained dog) assisted in the search for the remaining suspects.
