Police: Would-Be Thief Caught on Video

A surveillance video system captured images Friday of a Herndon man breaking into a local business, and he was taken into custody, the town police said.

Shukib Khan, 26, of Herndon, was charged with burglary, attempted burglary and possession of burglarious tools, according to a Herndon police report.

He was seen on the surveillance video of a business in the 700 block of Grant Street, and fled when the alarm sounded, the police report said. He later returned and was arrested.

There was minor damage to the business, the police said. No property was reported missing.
