Reston Man, Young Woman Assaulted in Local Parking Lot

The three suspects in Sunday's incident are at large, say Herndon police.

Three unidentified suspects assaulted a Reston man and a young woman from Sterling on Sunday after a fender-bender accident at a local shopping center, according to the Herndon police.

The suspects also stole the young woman’s purse, which contained cash and credit cards. As of Tuesday, no further description of the suspects was available, the town police said.

The incident occurred in the 13000 block of Worldgate Drive, but a police report did not state the time of day when it happened.

The 35-year-old Reston man was backing out of a parking space when his vehicle was struck by a second vehicle, the town police said. While discussing the damage, three suspects from the second vehicle assaulted the Reston man.

The assault left the victim with non-life threatening injuries to his head and face, the town police said.

During the assault, the 18-year old wman came to the aid of the victim and was also assaulted; she suffered minor injuries to her knee and face. The suspects then grabbed her purse and fled the scene, the police report said.
