Scorching Heat, Then Storms In Herndon

HERNDON, VA -- As we warned last week, the nice, cool temperatures weren't going to stick around. Those hot, steamy summer days are back this week in Herndon, and they may bring some storms with them.

Monday through Wednesday will be scorching in our area, with highs ranging from the low to mid 90s and heat indexes into the 100s. Tuesday will be especially hot.

We may see some showers and thunderstorms in our area on Thursday, and highs will remain in the 90s. That chance of showers and storms will persist on Friday, but fortunately temperatures will fall dramatically with highs in the mid 80s.

The weekend should be bearable, with highs still in the mid to high 80s and a few chances of showers.

It will be hot these next few days, but it's the humidity that will really punish you. This may be the hottest and steamiest weather of the year, in fact.

It's not autumn yet.
