Sexual Battery Of Juvenile Charge Levied Against Sterling Man

HERNDON, VA — Town of Herndon Police arrested a Sterling man in connection with a sexual assault incident that occurred Sunday morning in the 500 block of Florida Avenue, according to the weekly crime report.

Police charged Andy Josue Calix Mejia, 22, with aggravated sexual battery of a juvenile victim who was known to him. Calix Mejia was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he is being held without bail.

Between July 19-25, Town of Herndon police officers issued 51 traffic summonses, including one for driving while intoxicated, five for driving with no operator's license, four for driving on a suspended or revoked license, and two for operating a vehicle while holding a phone.

There were four reportable traffic accidents in Herndon. Virginia State Police define "reportable crashes" as those that result in $1,500 in property damage and/or injury.
