Soliloquy Bridal Couture Opens in Downtown Herndon

Soliloquy hopes to cater to brides looking for a very personal experience, and offers the ability to use Skype to allow friends and family from far away to join in on appointments.

Soliloquy Bridal Couture is the newest business to spring up in downtown Herndon.

The bridal shop opened in November and a ribbon cutting and grand opening was held on Wednesday, Dec. 7. The shop is owned by Miriam and Tony Liggett of Reston.

During the ribbon cutting Mayor Steve DeBenedittis, Vice Mayor Lisa Merkel and other officials from the Town of Herndon welcomed Soliloquy to the community.

Miriam Liggett thanked those who helped her achieve her dream of opening Soliloquy, including the town, realtor Geoffrey Serrell, Bill Lauer of Tetra Partners, which owns the building, Perry Dennis and BBG Construction, Gloria Bragg of BB&T, her business mentors and many family and friends.

One of the things Miriam Liggett is most proud of is Soliloquy’s ability to use Skype to bring friends and family from afar into the dress shopping experience. Using a flat screen television and a webcam, brides have brought in bridal party members from as far as Seattle.

When she was seeking a place to open her bridal shop many places she found elsewhere were too small or didn’t have the right atmosphere for the quaint experience she wanted to provide, Miriam Liggett said. She said when she found the space in downtown Herndon she knew she could have everything she wanted in a great location.

Merkel said she could easily visualize brides and their friends and mothers coming to downtown Herndon to shop for dresses and then sticking around to have lunch at a nearby restaurant or meet with other nearby businesses, such as florists and salons.

DeBenedittis said the Herndon is proud that Soliloquy chose to open in Herndon and it’s filling a niche the town hasn’t had before. The day was a damp one and DeBeneditis said rain on your wedding day is good luck so rain on the day of Soliloquy’s opening should mean good luck as well.

The shop is open by appointment only on Mondays, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and is closed on Sunday.
