Squatter Spotted In Herndon Home, Disappears When Cops Arrive

The home had been vacant and the homeowner noticed a broken window, police say.

HERNDON, VA -- A homeowner reported to police that a squatter had taken up residence in his vacant house, but when cops arrived the individual was gone, police say.

Police responded to a report of destruction of property on 2500 block of Banshire Drive, which happened sometime between Sept. 12 and Sept. 20, according to a report from the Fairfax County Police Department.

"The homeowner reported that the house has been vacant and on September 20 they noticed there was a broken window," the report states. "Upon further inspection, it appeared a suspect may have been squatting in the home. Officers checked the home and did not locate anyone inside."
