Sterling Volunteer Rescue Squad to Participate in SterlingFest

Sterling … Loudoun County residents won’t want to miss the chance to have fun and meet life-savers right in their own backyard.
Sterling Volunteer Rescue Squad will participate in SterlingFest 2019, Saturday, Oct. 12 beginning at 11 a.m. Sterling Rescue Station 15 is located at 104 Commerce Street, Sterling Volunteer Fire Company will be hosting their fall Open House as well.
The day will be full of activities with an array of family-friendly activities for community members of all ages. Sterling Rescue volunteers will be on hand to teach basic first aid using CPR dummies and visitors will be able to tour several emergency vehicles. Crews demonstrate vehicle extrication capabilities utilizing the “jaws of life” and other tools!

SterlingFest will also include a petting zoo, beer garden and a scavenger hunt, among other exciting activities. The event serves as a fundraiser for the Sterling Foundation, Sterling Playmakers and the Sterling Community Center. For full details, visit https://www.facebook.com/events/706781533067190/.
“SterlingFest brings the community together and is always lots of fun,” said Matt Kucik, head of Sterling’s recruitment efforts. “We’re excited to be a part of this once again and can’t wait to see everyone.”

The need for EMS volunteers in Northern Virginia continues to grow annually. Today, Sterling Rescue volunteers answer over 7,000 emergency calls annually in the neighborhoods of Broad Run Farms, Cardinal Glen, Cascades, Countryside, Dulles, Great Falls Forest, Lowes Island, Oak Grove, Potomac Falls, Richland Acres, Sterling, Sterling Park and Sugarland Run. Units may even run calls into Ashburn and assist with calls into Fairfax County.
As a volunteer, there are many ways community members can join the team at Sterling Rescue including as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), heavy rescue operations, EMS bike team and as an administrative volunteer.
