Teen Girl Arrested After Pouring Gasoline Around Herndon Home, Lighting It On Fire: Police

The girl, who is from Reston, faces a litany of charges.

HERNDON, VA — A teen girl is under arrest after police say she poured gasoline into a wheelbarrow and lit it on fire at the home of someone she knew.

The incident happened in the 1300 block of Monroe Street, a residential neighborhood in Herndon, on Aug. 10. Police say a 16-year-old girl from Reston entered the home of a man she knew without his permission.

After a physical altercation, "the suspect exited the home, picked up a gas can, poured gasoline under the deck and onto a wheelbarrow," and then "ignited the wheelbarrow," the police report states.

Fortunately, the fire was immediately extinguished and caused less than $200 in damage.

Police arrested the girl, who was held at the Fairfax Juvenile Detention Center. She faces charges of unlawful entry, assault, threat to burn and unlawfully setting a fire.
