Town Council Picks Cesar del Aguila As Vice Mayor

HERNDON, VA — On a unanimous vote, Mayor Sheila A. Olem and the Herndon Town Council approved a resolution Tuesday naming Cesar del Aguila as the town's vice mayor for the 2021-2022 term. The resolution passed on a 6-0 vote, with del Aguila abstaining.

The vice mayor is traditionally the Town Council candidate who received the most votes in the most recent election. During the Nov. 3 election, del Aguila received 5,443 (13.69 percent) votes, which was the most received by any of the eight candidates running for a council seat. The next highest number of votes was 5,359 (13.48 percent), which was garnered by Pradip Dhakal.

Serving his second term on the council, del Aguila has chaired the town's Pedestrian & Bicycle Committee and its Interview Subcommittee. He has also been Herndon's representative to the Dulles Area Transportation Association and the Phase II Dulles Rail Transportation Improvement District Commission Board.

A certified reserve deputy sheriff, del Aguila is an active volunteer with the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office. He is also a regional vice president of sales at Conga, formerly Apttus.
