Town of Herndon Marks Veterans Day With Laying of Wreath, Reception
The solemn ceremony took place on the Town Green on Friday.
HERNDON, VA — Herndon's veterans were on hand for a solemn Veterans Day ceremony on the Town Green on Friday, Nov. 11, which included the laying of a wreath and a reception afterward at the municipal building.
Prior to the laying of the wreath, keynote speaker Col. Harvey C. Barnum Jr. (USMC Ret.), who is a Medal of Honor recipient, said a few words to the assembled Herndon audience. The color guard from Herndon High School JROTC also was on hand and "performed their duties with great honor and military bearing," the Herndon Police Department said in a Facebook post.
"A reception followed in the foyer of the municipal building, where a couple of our officers were honored to have the opportunity to meet just a few of the many veterans who live in Herndon," the post added.
