Town Hosts Family Friendly Activities

The Herndon Department of Parks and Recreation is holding events for kids on Sunday, Jan. 15 and Monday, Jan. 16.

The Runnymede Park Rambles Program is meeting on Sunday, Jan. 15 from 2-3:30 p.m. at Runnymede Park on Herndon Parkway.

The program, for ages 8 and older, brings children and families outside with Naturalist Peter Munroe. The Runnymede Park Rambles Program will explore "How Life in the Park Survives Winter," including topics like temperature regulation, hibernation and finding food. The event will consist of a 20-minute presentation, followed by a walk in the park with Munroe to look for examples of what is taught during the presentation.

The program is free, but is not suited toward young children. Reservations aren't necessary, just join in by meeting at the picnic shelter near the park's entrance and dress for the weather.
