Tri For Love Triathlon Coming To Herndon

The Tri for Love Triathlon will be taking place in Herndon in September.

(Tri-Love)

Tri for Love: In December 2006, Taylor Love, at the age of 18 months, was diagnosed with a deadly childhood cancer called neuroblastoma; her parents were told she had a 20-30% chance to survive this deadly disease…Taylor’s fight to live was on. Beginning that day and over the past 12 years Taylor navigated an intense treatment path that included surgeries, multiple rounds of high dose chemotherapy, radiation, clinical trials, bone marrow transplant, countless poke, pains and medicines; she defied many odds over the years including a secondary cancer diagnosis – chemo induced leukemia. Today, Taylor is cancer free, but not without many side effects resulting from lifesaving but toxic treatments.

In an effort to help offset the increasing medical bills, friends of The Love’s and owners of Tri-
Performance hosted the first Tri for Love Triathlon with proceeds benefiting treatment costs for Taylor’s medical care. Over the years, many have come out to support Taylor and push themselves to compete in this fun sprint triathlon. Tri for Love is an event for both rookie and veteran athletes; individual and team participation is welcome. Tri for Love begins at The Herndon Community Center in Herndon VA with a 400 yard indoor swim, transitioning to a 15.4 mile W&OD Trail bike ride from Ferndale Drive to Ashburn Road and back. The event finishes with a 5k run in and around the W&OD bike and horse trail. Tri for Love Triathlon is USAT sanctioned and is supported by The City of Herndon and Loudoun County.
