Wet Week Ahead In Herndon, Followed By Sunshine
The remnants of Hurricane Florence are expected to start rolling into our area early this week, but beautiful weather awaits.

HERNDON, VA -- As predicted, the remnants of Hurricane Florence are beginning to make their way north in our general direction. But while that means plenty of rain to start off the week, you can hope for a positively beautiful -- albeit a little on the warm side -- latter half of the week here in Herndon.
Florence won't directly hit us as it heads for the northeast, but it should give us enough of a glancing blow to drop showers -- which raises concerns about flooding in light of the fact that the ground is already quite saturated.
It'll be a rainy Monday to start off the week, with showers likely and thunderstorms possible after 11 a.m., according to the forecast from the National Weather Service. Rainfall amounts of up to a half an inch are possible, with potentially another quarter inch in the evening.

Tuesday should be more of the same, with similar rainfall totals predicted by NWS, so keep an eye on flash flood warnings.
A Flash Flood Watch is in effect through tonight for areas in green. Moderate to locally heavy rain will overspread the area this AM. Steadiest rain may leave this afternoon, but additional showers & isolated thunderstorms are likely this evening. Locally heavy rain possible. pic.twitter.com/y23X80066w
