Will Tropical Storm Michael Hit Herndon?
Right now, the storm's track is sending it just south of us, but we could still see some effects Thursday.

HERNDON, VA -- Tropical Storm Michael is currently spinning over central Georgia after roaring ashore on the Florida panhandle Wednesday as a Category 4 monster -- and just 2 mph shy of a Category 5. So as it rolls up north, are we likely to see any effects from the storm here in Herndon?
The short answer is no, for the most part. The storm's track currently has it rolling up through South Carolina, North Carolina, and finally Southeastern Virginia before it reenters the Atlantic Ocean and heads out to sea, still as a tropical storm, according to the National Weather Service.
However, that doesn't mean we won't see any effects from the storm. Expect Thursday to be rainy throughout, largely because of moisture pushed up here by Michael. The rainfall won't be particularly heavy, with rainfall totals of probably less than an inch for much of the Beltway area, but we could get up to 3 inches in some areas southeast, according to the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang.

By Friday, the center of Michael should be headed offshore and things will dry out quickly. Also, the high will dive into the 60s, meaning that elusive fall weather may finally be here. Friday night lows could get down into the 40s.
