Woman Hit By Vehicle on Herndon Street

A 58-year-old Herndon woman is being treated for serious injuries after being hit by a vehicle early this morning while crossing a local street, according to Herndon police.

The accident occurred at about 7 a.m. Friday while she was crossing the street at Herndon Parkway and Summerfield Drive, the police said. The woman was airlifted to a local hospital.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the woman remained on the scene and cooperated with the Herndon police. An accident reconstruction unit is conducting an investigation, and no charges have been placed against the driver at this time, police said.

The Herndon Parkway is open for normal traffic.
