Woman Mugged in Herndon, Attacker Flees With Purse: Police

Police say she was walking along a roadway when a man approached her from behind.

HERNDON, VA — A woman was mugged while walking near the Village Center at Dulles in Herndon on Friday night, police say.

A 30-year-old woman was walking along a roadway near the intersection of Thomas Jefferson Way and McNair Farms Drive on Oct. 21 just after 8 p.m. when "a man approached her from behind and attempted to take her purse," according to a report from the Fairfax County Police Department.

"They struggled briefly but the suspect fled with her purse," the report states.

The woman did not require any medical attention.

The report adds: "The suspect was described as black, around 30 years old, wearing blue jeans, a long-sleeved black shirt, and a black knit cap."
