Wreaths Across America Honors Herndan Heroes
The Town of Herndon, in partnership with the Herndon Woman's Club and Wreaths Across America, will honor over 550 veterans laid to rest.

National nonprofit Wreaths Across America is working hard to ensure no veteran from Herndon, Virginia is forgotten this holiday season and fundraising has begun for this year. On Saturday, December 17, 2016 National Wreaths Across America Day, live balsam remembrance wreaths will be placed at the graves of fallen veterans at nearly 1,000 locations across the country and overseas. In Herndon, a remembrance ceremony will be held at Chestnut Grove Cemetery on Saturday, December 17 at noon to ensure that the veterans, who served to protect the freedoms of our country are not, and never will be, forgotten. The ceremony is open to all.
For the third year, the Town of Herndon, in partnership with the Herndon Woman’s Club, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit civic organization, will join Wreaths Across America to honor over 550 veterans who were laid to rest at Chestnut Grove Cemetery. The club will remember the fallen, the prisoners of war, the missing in action and honor those who have served and are serving this great nation with a short ceremony. The goal is to place commemorative wreaths on every veteran’s grave. Volunteers, including members of our military, fire and police departments, and Herndon Girl and Boy Scouts will assist with the wreath placement.
