“Coming Clean: Clotheslines in Italy” Original Pastels by Bonnie Ferguson Butler

A published biochemist in her former life, Bonnie Ferguson Butler is now known as a pastelist, primarily working outdoors, and as a landscape photographer. Her exhibition at The Loft Gallery in Occoquan, "Coming Clean: Clotheslines in Italy," marries her two loves as she uses her own photographic references as the basis for pastel vignettes of this highly intimate subject, laundry, found hanging in southern, central, and northern Italy. 

Butler, founder of the Pastel Society of Virginia, is an award-winning juried artist at The Loft Gallery (www.loftgallery.org) and the Workhouse Arts Center (www.workhousearts.org). The exhibit runs December 6 through December 30, 2011, with the opening reception on Saturday, December 10, 1-4 p.m.
