Barg, a Prince William County native, created the County’s first homeless shelter for families, now known as the Hilda Barg Homeless Prevention Center.

Barg regularly attends board meetings where she actively participates in the proclaiming of Child Abuse Prevention Month, Foster Care Month and Elder Abuse Awareness Month and honorably represents the county each year at the National Adoption Day Celebration at the 31st District Court.

The commendation recognized Barg as a “knowledgeable and compassionate advocate for the most vulnerable in our community,” who has “imparted that knowledge and passion to so many other members of the Department of Social Services Advisory Board.”
