
Tata, the India conglomerate that includes Tata Steel, Tata Chemicals, and Tata Motors was in recent talks to produce its own domestic airline in partnership with Singapore Airlines.
The attempt foiled as Tata chairman Ratan Tata refused to bribe one of India's Prime Ministers for an amount of 15 crore, or about $3.8 million dollars.
The agreement of the Prime Minister would have served as an asset into getting the Tata airline off of the ground.

Ratan Tata said following through with the bribe would have gone against the values and ethics upheld by the Tata Group as a whole.Â
