• Virginia Symphony Orchestra to inaugurate new performing arts stage September 26 at LHS (rrecord.com) — Lancaster residents can soon hear the Virginia Symphony Orchestra live at the new Lancaster High School Auditorium & Performing Arts Center on Saturday, September 26. The evening includes a pre-show talk with conductor Eric Jacobsen and a program featuring Vivaldi's The Four Seasons and Debussy, all part of the Rappahannock Foundation for the Arts On Stage series in Irvington.
• Cat tests positive for rabies virus in Lancaster (rrecord.com) — A feral cat found September 3 on Iberis Road in Lancaster has tested positive for rabies, prompting a warning to anyone who may have handled or been exposed to the animal. Residents are urged to contact the Lancaster County Health Department if they, their pets, or other animals had any bites, scratches, or saliva contact so they can get proper medical guidance.
• MHS runners win at Lancaster, second in NN (gazettejournal.net) — Mathews High School's cross country teams traveled to Lancaster for a hot, hilly meet and still came away with first-place finishes for both the boys and girls. Running against Northumberland, Westmoreland, and host Lancaster's Red Devils, MHS athletes posted strong times that gave local fans a clear look at early-season competition on Lancaster's home course.
