Update: Victim Identified In Fatal Leesburg Shooting, Suspect Charged With Murder: Police

The Leesburg Police Department has identified the man who died after a shooting at a Leesburg apartment on Monday morning.

LEESBURG, VA — A man was shot to death on Monday morning in Leesburg, according to a report from the police department. Authorities said a suspect was arrested at the scene.

Police identified the victim as Javuan Wright, a 21-year-old from Waldorf, Maryland.

Around 2:30 a.m. on Monday, the Leesburg Police Department's emergency line received a report of a "suspicious event" at an apartment in the 0-99 block of Fort Evans Road NE, police said.

When officers arrived at the apartment, they found an adult man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene, the police department said in its report.

The suspect, who police identified as 21-year-old Nelson Coronado Jr., stayed at the apartment after the shooting. He is charged with one count of second degree murder and one count of use of a firearm in commission of a felony. Coronado is being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.

The police department said that officers recovered a firearm at the scene. Authorities also determined that Coronado was the sole suspect, and that he knew the victim.
