The 87th Annual Ladies Board Rummage Sale Brings Record Sales and Turnout

Shoppers from Around the Region Turn Shopping into Community Impact

The Ladies Board of Inova Loudoun Hospital recently announced that the 87th Annual Rummage Sale, held at the Loudoun County Fairgrounds from October 16 -18, produced record sales. Beating 2025’s sales high of over $376,000, the 87th annual sale raised $434,567 as shoppers came from VA, DC, MD, and beyond to discover a treasure trove of antiques, fashion for the whole family, sporting goods, electronics, furniture, art and more. A true community event, funds raised from Rummage sales support nursing scholarships and a variety of priority programs at Inova Loudoun Hospital, from its greatest need programs to specialty medical equipment and medical research. In 2025 alone, the Ladies Board funded 55 nursing scholarships totaling more than $186,000 along with a range of hospital priorities, including support for a pilot artificial intelligence program to catch sepsis earlier, removing barriers to care for existing patients facing hardship, providing lymphedema garments, supporting Life with Cancer and funding music therapy.

With the announcement, Ladies Board President, Pauline Clark, delivered the group’s most recent contribution check in the amount of $340,000 to Dr. Raj Chand, President of Inova Loudoun Hospital. Dr. Chand, in his remarks to the Ladies Board stated, “One hundred and fourteen years ago, the pioneering vision and spirit of the Ladies Board helped found what is now Inova Loudoun Hospital. It began with six beds in a rented home on Market Street in Leesburg…Through more than a century of growth, your generosity has reached more than six million dollars. In every chapter of this hospital's story, the Ladies Board has been there.” Chand also shared Inova’s newly launched vision to set the national standard for excellence in healthcare, remarking, “Long before anyone wrote that vision, the Ladies Board was setting the standard for what a community can do for its hospital. The pioneering spirit that started this journey in 1912 thrives today because of each of you.”

The annual Rummage Sale is the product of a year’s long effort of dedicated volunteers and partners. “The 87th Annual Ladies Board Rummage Sale is truly larger than words can describe. It takes a year of collecting, more than 500 dedicated volunteers, and countless hours of hard work to bring this incredible undertaking to life. Our donations come from all walks of life—families downsizing, loved ones settling an estate after a loss, and people simply cleaning out their closets. Every donation has a story, and together, those donations become something extraordinary,” said Stacey Bassett, Rummage Committee Chair and Second Vice President of the Ladies Board of Inova Loudoun Hospital. “In just four days, our volunteers transform more than 53,000 square feet of space into a retail experience like no other. What makes this event remarkable isn't just its size, it's the people behind it. Our volunteers show up through hurricane-force rains, unexpected cold snaps, muddy conditions, and miles of traffic because they believe in our mission. Their dedication, determination, and willingness to do whatever it takes are nothing short of phenomenal. This sale is so much more than shopping—it's a year-round labor of love that makes a lasting difference in our community.”
