LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA – A Loudoun County man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for sexually assaulting a minor.

Aroldo Santos-Velasquez, now 49, of Leesburg, was arrested in May 2024 and charged in connection with a reported assault on an 8-year-old girl while another child was present. He eventually pleaded guilty to 1 count of aggravated sexual battery of a victim under the age of 13 and another count of attempted aggravated sexual battery of a victim under the age of 13.

He was sentenced on May 28 to the maximum possible term for each charge and will also have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

The Loudoun Times reported in February 2025 that a judge rejected an initial plea deal that would have seen Santos-Velazquez serve 16 years. Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Amelia K. Flynn had argued that the plea deal would spare the victim and the potential child witness the ordeal of a trial.

Santos-Velazquez had originally also been charged with rape of a child under 13 and sodomy of a victim under 13, but those charges were dropped.
