AOL Acquires Huffington Post

The joining will "occupy a unique place" in internet's future, Armstrong said

 

AOL has announced that is has agreed to buy online news and opinion source the Huffington Post.

AOL’s hope is that the merger will reach “an engaged, influential, affluent and growing audience” which will include millions of monthly unique visitors.

AOL’s chairman and CEO, Tim Armstrong, said the purchase will be a significant one not only for the future of his company, but for the digital medium as a whole.

“Huffington Post and AOL will occupy a unique place in the future of the internet,” he said.
