Boat Accident In Outer Banks Kills Loudoun Woman
A 29-year-old woman from Round Hill died on Monday from injuries she suffered in a boating accident in North Carolina, authorities said.
LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — A woman from Loudoun County was killed in a boating accident in the Outer Banks on Monday, Sept. 6. Authorities identified the woman as Brandi Lash, a 29-year-old Round Hill resident.
Authorities in Hyde County, North Carolina received a report of a serious boating accident around 2 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 6, according to a report from the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission. The accident occurred at the Hatteras Inlet, near the Ocracoke Ferry Dock.
Authorities said a rented vessel was travelling southwest in the area when it hit a sand shoal, a submerged bank that rises near the surface of the water. The vessel was rented from Hatteras Parasail, according to a news release.

When the boat struck the sand, Lash was ejected from the vessel, authorities said. She was then run over by the boat.
Lash died due to her injuries later on Monday.

Several agencies responded to the scene of the crash, including the National Park Service, U.S. Coast Guard, Hyde County Sheriffs’ Office, and North Carolina Wildlife Officers. The investigation, which is still ongoing, is being handled by the North Carolina Wildlife office.
In their release, authorities did not note any possible factors that may have contributed to the crash.
