Leesburg Career Expo or Sterling Job Fair?

Job Fairs in Leesburg and Sterling provide opportunities for Loudoun's young job seekers to connect with employers looking to hire.

Are you a recent high school or college graduate looking for a job? There are two opportunities in Loudoun Saturday to find one or improve your chances, so print out your resume and head out to find just the right employer.

Leesburg Youth Career Expo

In Leesburg, check out the Youth Career Expo from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at ProJet Aviation, 957 Sycolin Road SE, in Leesburg. The Expo provides an opportunity for recent grads to learn how to build a resume, interview and, hopefully, find a job. Doug Parsons, with the Leesburg Economic Development Commission, said that 54 businesses had signed up as of Tuesday.

Some of the businesses include, K2M, FC1 Federal, Ruby Tuesdays, Wegman’s, AT&T, BB&T, Middleburg Bank, Comfort Suites, Custom Software Systems, Family First Dental, Morven Park and Coldwater Creek. But there are dozens more.

The businesses will be set up to answer questions and discuss employment opportunities for summer and full-time positions. Interested applicants should come prepared with their resumes and for possible on-the-spot interviews.

In the past, more than 600 young job seekers and 40 businesses participated. With more businesses already signed up, Parson expected more hopeful employees to show up this year as well.

Leesburg Town Council Member Kelly Burk has organized the Expo for the past few years.

Sterling Teen Job Fair

Farther to the east, a similar crowd is anticipated for the 5th annual Sterling Teen Job Fair; nearly 40 businesses have signed on for the March 16 event, which runs from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Claude Moore Recreation Center, 46105 Loudoun Park Lane, in Sterling.

"We're giving an edge to Loudoun's youth at this job fair," said Supervisor Eugene Delgaudio, who organizes the event.

Some of the businesses attending include Telos, Chick-Fil-A, Glory Days Grill, Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority, Sterling Rescue and Volunteer Fire Department and high-tech companies looking to mentor students.

Delgaudio said attendees should come in business attire and be prepared to interview on the spot. He added that many companies plan to hire employees at the fair.

"This is a big event with about 500 people attending,” he said. “These companies have a sincere interest in the community."
