Tour Four Historic Homes Decorated for the Holidays and Shop the Holiday Craft Fair at the Old Stone School

Visit four historic homes in the Town of Hillsboro that will be beautifully decorated for the holidays with fresh greens. These homes will be open for paid ticket holders from noon to 6 p.m. during the Christmas in Hillsboro Historic Homes Tour on Saturday, December 13. Candlelight tours start at 3 p.m. Tickets for the tour are $20 ($17 in advance and for Hillsboro Community Association members), $18 for seniors and students ($15 in advance), and 10 and under are free.

The Christmas in Hillsboro Historic Homes Tour starts at the Old Stone School at 37098 Charles Town Pike in Hillsboro, where you will get your tickets and booklet with information about the homes on tour and their location. From there, you will walk to the four homes on tour. Please be sure to dress appropriately and wear comfortable shoes. At each home, docents will give you a history of the home and the unique architecture and antiques in the rooms. For tickets, visit www.OldStoneSchool.org or call 540-668-6192.

Also on December 13 at the Old Stone School, the Hillsboro Community Association is having their annual Holiday Craft Fair from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Come early to get your house tour tickets and do some holiday gift shopping with nearly 50 artisans filling both levels of the historic building.

To help add to the holiday feel, the Chorus of the Old Dominion will be singing at one of the homes on tour from 1 to 2 p.m. As you walk to the different homes on tour, you will be able to enjoy listening to the Pickwick Players, as well as the Woodgrove Treble Ensemble and the Woodgrove Women’s Choir as they carol through the town.

Make sure to leave enough time to enjoy the many other activities in and around Hillsboro on December 13. There will be a freewill offering dinner at Hillsboro United Methodist Church starting at 11:30 a.m., and even more shopping at the Christmas Bazaar at Hillsborough Vineyards starting at 11 a.m. After you go on the historic homes tour, plan to visit some of the local businesses in the Hillsboro area that are offering specials to house tour ticket holders. These include 868 Estate Vineyards, Breaux Vineyards, Doukenie Winery, Grandale Farm Restaurant, Hillsborough Vineyards, Hill Tom Market, North Gate Vineyard, and Old 690 Brewing Company.
